What are some real good Big Band artists/groups?
Any good ones will do as well as ones with lyrics like Joltin Joe Dimaggio by Les Brown and his Band of Renown.
Any time of year will do and different genres are fine

Always Glenn Miller Orchestra, Artie Shaw, Les Brown (as you said), Buddy Rich Band. Benny Goodman, Jimmy Dorsey, Count Basie, Woody Herman.
You may also like the recordings of Mel Torme (alway shad a big band backing). Louis Armstrong played with big bands as did some of my favorite all-time singers – Ella Fitzgerald, Etta James, Billie Holiday and Dinah Washington.
